The main beaches are 10 minutes drive from the villa. The town of Roses is about 5 minutes away. Also nearby is the village of Palau Saverdera where there are some nice restaurants a superb village shop and a bank with an outside cash point.
The area is a wine lovers paradise, with many vineyards just minutes from the villa. All have wine tasting facilities and the chance to purchase excellent wines direct from the producer at attractive prices.
Peralada Golf Club, 10 min's drive, is a first class golf course of 18 holes. The course is indicated for any level of player and is open all year round.
Surrounding the golf course is a prestigious residential development where nature and magnificent views of the Pyrenees mountains, countryside and coastline combine to provide a stunning setting. The development is situated adjacent to Peralada, one of the most well known villages in the entire province of Girona, renowned for its medieval history and emphasis on culture as well as its wine cellars, casino set in the castle that is also host to international classical music festivals each summer, and other attractions in the surrounding areas.
The nearest skiing resort is Capradon which is a one hour's drive away and La Molina about 2 hours 30 minutes.

There are numerous walks directly from the villa and many more just a few minutes drive from the villa. One of our favourites is the trip to St Pere de Rhodes which takes around 15 minutes by car and passes dozens of hillside walks and spectacular vantage points (pictured above) in the Cap de Creus National Park. Cadaques and Llanca can be reached using this scenic route which is a great way to go for a seafood lunch!

The nearest airport is Girona which is 35 minutes away or Barcelona which takes about 90minutes. Also, 35 minutes away is Perpignan airport in France.
The nearest large town is Figueres which takes 15 min's drive where you have the world famous Salvadore Dali museum. Empuriabrava is 10 min's drive away where you have all the water sports, sky diving, restaurants and night life.
There are plenty of places to explore along the Costa Brava. Heading north, you will shortly arrive at Port de la Selva and then on to France, which is separated from Catalunya or Catalonia by the Pyrenees.
Heading south, there is a huge choice of long beaches, rocky coves and fishing villages to choose from. We would recommend that you split your holiday up- spend some time soaking up the atmosphere in Cadaqués and then do a bit of exploring, taking in towns like Palamós , with its cute old town, or head for lunch in one of the small beach side restaurants at Tamaríu Calella or Llafranc.
I'm sure you've heard of Ferran Adrià and his world famous restaurant El Bulli? voted the best restaurant in the world, El Bulli is just 10 to 15 minutes from Casa Albera.

There´s plenty to do and explore inland as well, such as the Dali museum at Figueres, a medieval town, or ambling through the old town in Girona, which is the provincial capital.
Once found, many people visit this magical area time and time again,there is always something new to find and explore just around the corner. Be warned!
One visit is usually not enough!
